Application Requirements

What documents are required for a completed application?

A completed application should include a letter describing your child and family situation, a photocopy of your child’s Canadian Birth Certificate or Permanent Residence Card, and a letter from a third party supporting the request.

Is there an age limit for APPLICANTS?

Yes, the child must be 13 years of age or younger to be eligible for financial assistance from Waves of Changes for Autism. This criteria has been mandated by the CRA.

What diagnosis documentation is needed for the application?

Provide a copy of the medical doctor’s/hospital institution’s diagnosis of your child’s Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or psychological/educational assessment signed by a medical doctor, accompanied by the initial medical diagnosis.

What information should be included in the estimate from the therapeutic service provider?

The estimate should specify the hourly rate and the number of hours of therapy/service required on a weekly/monthly basis.

Why can’t families residing outside Vaughan, Ontario, apply for financial assistance?

Waves of Changes for Autism focuses its assistance exclusively on families residing in Vaughan, Ontario, due to the limited funds raised and the organization’s commitment to providing impactful support. Concentrating our efforts within Vaughan allows us to ensure that each family receives a substantial and meaningful amount of funding, significantly improving their lives. Proof of residency, such as a utility bill, is required for eligibility.

While our current focus enables us to provide impactful assistance, our aspiration is to extend our application process to everyone affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. This future goal aims to create a broader positive impact on families beyond Vaughan. Your understanding and support are invaluable as we work diligently towards this objective.

Are funding decisions based on the cost of the service?

Yes, the level of funding assistance may vary based on the cost of the specific service and the availability of Waves of Changes for Autism funds during the funding year.

How are funding approval decisions made?

Applicants agree that the decisions made by Waves of Changes for Autism are final and free from any liability. Funding approval letters will be sent to the families after the service or purchase, upon submission of the paid invoice from the vendor.

What services are currently funded by Waves of Changes for Autism?

WCA currently funds ABA/IBI, Speech and Language Therapy, Camps (summer or winter), Occupational Therapy (Motor Skills), Communication Devices, and Support Equipment. Please note that this list is subject to change based on ongoing reviews.
